The new model from the Dell series P (Professional) is embellished with thin edges and slightly curved lines, in a combination of mate black and gray. As a part of the highest class of the Dell offer, it has the right to a special treatment, so the quality of production of this screen is on the highest level, and it can also dance, you can rotate it in all axes.

The menu is classical and can be accessed through four keys that are located on the right side of the front mask. The walk is short and accurate, so the movement through the menu is very fast, which is also helped by its simplicity and the lack of advanced options. It is divided in a few standard units that serve the purpose of adjusting the most basic parameters for the picture (Brightness, Contrast, Aspect, Sharpness, Dynamic Contrast...), and for the advanced options you can think of remapping shortcuts for accessing the navigation keys.

Dell P Series 2213The image that is reproduced by this classical TN panel is brightly lit when you unpack it out of the box. You can solve this problem by entering the Br/Cont and in a matter of a few minutes this problem is solved, but... The colors are not very well saturated. The tone reproduction is good for the TN panel, but they have no depth. The uniformity of the image is very good, so in the black test you can only see some brighter colors along the edge of the screen. On the other side, the white reproduction is good, but no the best. You can see that the shown color is not 100% white, but a little dim. The gradient test showed that darker tones are distinct with no problems. That is a good result for this type of panel.
The time of recall is declared on 5 ms, but during the testing we have managed to notice the ghosting effect on objects that move faster, so it is questioned if it could be used for more serious gaming (even though its not its market placement).

The photo and video reproduction tests only confirmed what we have noticed in synthetic tests. The details in the photo shading can be easily noticed, but they are lost in the brightest tones. Also, the initial impression of the colors looking like washed out is confirmed on all photo and video materials of various landscapes, where they just don’t have that fullness to accurately show them, it just doesn’t seem right.

The viewing angles have always been the weak point of models with the TN matrix, especially since theDell P2213 LED appearance of the eIPS screens. In the best case, you can say that the horizontal angles are good, so you don’t have to sit directly  in front  of the screen to make the colors ok, while the vertical angles left us disappointed.

What to Use Dell P2213 For

Then, for what is this monitor for? It is certainly not for processing videos or photos, but when it comes to 3D/CAD drawing, where colors are not that important, and you can also use the possibility of rotating the screen... There we see its purpose, but primarily as a secondary monitor, because the small surface and low resolution, though it has a sharp display, just don’t give enough space for comfort on a small screen in longer periods of time.

For a similar amount of money you can get a monitor with a bigger diagonal and Full HD technology or even the eIPS panel, but then you lose the possibility of rotating your screen in all axes, and that is an option which buyers of this monitor find most worthy, because all other aspects are on a high level, what is usually expected from a P series monitor.
