It is called Hamachi, a free, third-party program that establishes a virtual private network connection between all the systems that have the program installed, and it works very well. You may be away from your network by lightyears, but you'll still be able to access iTunes shares, shared folders and mapped network printers like you are at home. Hamachi also makes it very easy to use advanced remote desktop applications like UltraVNC. UltraVNC allows you to take control of your system remotely so you can access the files or the execute tasks on your machine as if it were in front of you. Although it may sound a lot like Windows Remote Desktop, the program capabilities, including easy file transfer and chat room support, surely guarantee quality. When used with Hamachi, you do not have to forward ports and understand IP addresses. IP address that Hamachi assigned to each system is exactly what you will enter to control the system from a distance.
