The representatives of the Intel company have held a press conference to present a plan to introduce new possibilities on a large number of mobile devices such as Smart phones, Tablets and Ultrabook devices. Among the presented were: a new platform meant for Smart phones on growing markets, more information about the future 22nm Quad-core SoC for Tablets, and more intuitive Ultrabook devices have been presented by Michael Bell, vice president and general manager of the Mobile and Communications Group, and Kirk Skaugen, vice president and general manager of the PC Client Group at Intel.
  

Intel in smart phones

Intel has introduced a new platform of low consumption based the Atom processors (code name Lexington) and a referent design that could reach a number of 500 million sales till 2015. The partners that will support this platform are Acer, Lava International and Safaricom. The new platform has the Intel Z2420classic advantages of an Intel product. Those are impressive performances for searching the web and excellent multimedia and Android applications. It also includes many characteristics like an Intel Atom Z2420 processor with Intel Hyper-Threading technology that can achieve speeds of 1.2 GHz, hardware-accelerated 1080p encode / decode and support for two cameras, which allows you to take seven photos in less than a second in 5 megapixel quality camera. The platform also includes the Intel XMM 6265 HSPA + modem that provides the option of Dual Sim / Dual Standby.  Bell also shown the future platform based on the Intel Atom Z2580 processor (earlier called "Clover Trail+") meant for the basic Smart phone segment. The platform has a Dualcore Atom processor with Intel Hyper – Threading technology, and also a Dualcore Graphic engine. 

A larger number of Tablets thanks to new Quad-core Intel Atom processors

Talking about a ever growing number of Tablet devices based on Intel technology, Bell emphasized Tablet devices based on  the Atom Z2760 processor, with the Windows 8 operating system that can be currently bought from partners such as Acer, ASUS, Dell, Fujitsu, HP, Lenovo, LG and Samsung. HE also revealed the details about the next generation 22nm Atom Soc, code name „Bay Trail“ that will be available in 2013. The first Quad core Atom Soc will be the most powerful Atom processor till now, that will give two times more performance from the current Tablet options. He will include new advanced integrated safety characteristics. 

Reduced consumption triggers Ultrabook innovations

Skaugen has announced that Intel will enrich the existing third generation of Intel Core processors with a line of low consumption processors. These processors will work on only 7 watts, enabling manufacturers to introduce thinner and lighter convertible devices. Lenovo’s IdeaPad Yoga 11S Ultrabook and the future Ultrabook detachable from the Acer company will be amongst the first ones to appear on the market. The fourth generation of Intel Core processors enables battery autonomy all day long. Skaugen has revealed that the new systems will be able to secure battery autonomy for up to 9 hours. To demonstrate the effect that the fourth generation of Intel Core processors will have, Skaugen shown a new referent design of the Ultrabook detachable (code name North Cape) that can be converted into a 10 mm tablet device that will have battery autonomy for 13 hours.
