Rightmove and Zoopla have both released iPhone applications which let you access all their tools while on the move. These free apps aim to give house hunters an advantage when out looking for their dream home. In this new competitive arena we see which app comes out best.
Rightmove can now boast over 1 million iPhone application downloads with a further 100,000 for iPad users. Launching back in August 2009 they went several months unchallenged in the download market. Despite being the UK’s largest property website their mobile applications had a troublesome start.
Their first series apps had numerous bugs while frustrating users with long download times and low resolution graphics. These were quickly fixed with an updated application.
As well as offering iPhone users full access to their property portal, you can also use the GPS functionality to specifically pin-point your exact location and map out any available properties around you. These can all be saved and synchronized with your existing Rightmove account.
In January 2011 more than 41 million pages were viewed on the Rightmove mobile platform. Today the Rightmove app is the highest rated portal application on iTunes.
Zoopla successfully launched their powerful app in July 2010 with an impressive 50,000 downloads within its first two months. Zoopla’s comprehensive range of free online services has been transferred to its mobile app empowering users with many valuable tools.
Search over 15 million house prices paid dating back to 1995 while also accessing local market data including average home values by area.
Zoopla also provide a nifty scan tool which lets iPhone 3GS and 4 users search for properties using the camera view tool. Simply point it in any direction and you can see which homes are for sale and rent, how much they last sold for and what the current value today.
Both property portals offer well designed apps which are clear and easy to navigate. Their interactive maps lets you quickly search and find properties in any given location. While Rightmove continues to offer the biggest markerplace for sellers, landlords, buyers and tenants, Zoopla excels in its use of mobile technology. This is why we have chosen Zoopla as our top property iPhone app.
Both applications are free so why not download both and see which you prefer.
